Welcome to the Career Blog, where we provide you with authentic insights into working at RHI Magnesita, employee stories, and helpful tips for your future career with us. In today's article, we will be sharing six tips to help you find your dream job at RHI Magnesita. We'll start with the importance of self-reflection and guide you through identifying your values, skills, and interests to help you find a career path that aligns with your goals. We'll also provide tips on updating your resume, activating your network, researching your potential employer, and preparing for interviews. With these tips, you'll feel confident and well-prepared throughout the job search process.

Tip 1: Start with self-reflection. Don’t underestimate the importance of self-reflection before starting a job search. Try to understand your true values, skills, and interests. Reflect on the following questions:

  • Values: What are your core values? What matters most to you in a job or career? Think about what motivates you, what gives you a sense of purpose, and what kind of impact you want to make in the world. And do your values align with our values as a company? You can find more about them here and here.
  • Skills and strengths: What are your skills and strengths? What are you good at? Think about your past experiences, both personal and professional, and identify the skills that you have developed.
  • Interests: What are your interests? What do you enjoy doing? Think about the things that you are passionate about and how they might translate into a job. Also make sure to check out the many different fields we offer – you might fit great into an area you didn’t even think of until now.
  • Work-life balance: What kind of work-life balance are you looking for? How important is flexibility in your work schedule? Think about what kind of balance you need to maintain your physical and mental health and to pursue your personal interests and hobbies.
  • Work environment: What kind of work environment do you thrive in? Do you prefer working independently or in a team? Do you like a fast-paced or more relaxed environment? Think about what kind of work environment would allow you to do your best work. Find out more about how we care, support, and invest in our employees here.

Tip 2: Identify your career goals. Reflect on your long-term career goals and what you're looking for in your next role. Make a list of what's important to you, such as company culture, benefits, location, salary or job title. This will help you narrow down your search and ensure that you're applying for positions that align with your career goals.

Tip 3: Update your resume. Take the time to update your resume and cover letter to highlight your most recent experience and skills. Tailor your documents to the job you're applying for by adding specific keywords associated with that role. Keep your experience and skills specific and concise; focus on what is relevant for the position you are applying to. Let us get to know your attitude. Back up your successes with measurable results or accomplishments by including numbers and figures. If you've had a leadership role, tell us about it. How big was the team? What was the scope of your work? Last but not least, don't forget to proofread your resume.

Tip 4: Activate your network. Reach out to your professional network, including colleagues, mentors, and former managers. Check if anyone you know works with us, and ask if they know of any open positions that might be a good fit. Consider reaching out to friends and family. Also, you can check out our social media channels, such as Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook, to see if we're hosting any events or job fairs in your area.

Tip 5: Research your potential employer. Before you apply for a job, research our company to learn more about our culture, values, and mission. This video is a good starting point: it can help you determine whether we are a "good match" as well as assist you in tailoring your application documents. Furthermore, our company website offers a wealth of useful and interesting information. And don’t worry, before starting with RHI Magnesita, many of us were unfamiliar with the term "refractories" :) Read here and here to get an idea of what we do and why it's important for the world we live in.

Tip 6: Prepare for interviews. Interviews serve the purpose of allowing us to learn more about you and for you to have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know us better. Preparing for a job interview can help you feel more confident and increase your chances of success. Review the job description, practice your self-introduction and answers to common interview questions, and consider doing a mock interview with a friend or family member. Remember that your attitude is at least as important as your skills and experiences. For more specific tips and recommendations, stay tuned for our next article!
