RHI Magnesita has reached a significant milestone by becoming the first Austrian company to join the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council (IBLAC) in Shanghai—a prestigious forum that brings together global industry leaders to advise on the city’s development strategy. At the 37th IBLAC session, Stefan Borgas, Chief Executive Officer, and Marco Olszewsky, Regional President of China and East Asia, joined leaders from the world’s top 50 companies in discussions with the Shanghai Party Secretary and Mayor.

Held under the theme “Openness, Innovation, and Inclusiveness—Shanghai’s Development Strategy Toward 2030”, the event focused on strengthening the city’s position as a global gateway for capital, data, and talent through innovation and international collaboration. Reflecting on Shanghai’s dynamic growth, Stefan Borgas remarked: “I’m not surprised to be surprised. The speed at which products and software improve here from quarter to quarter is truly amazing.” He described IBLAC as “a vital connector that brings people from all over the world to Shanghai to develop solutions for the planet together”.

This participation highlights RHI Magnesita’s long-term commitment to China’s development and its dedication to fostering innovation and global cooperation—reinforcing the company’s role as a trusted partner in driving industrial transformation and sustainable growth.
